How to find VRChat outfits from a screenshot

You can use a VRChat screenshot to look for visually similar outfits, hair or accessories in DropCat. Image search is experimental: it suggests candidates from the indexed products and does not verify the exact item in the picture.

How do I search for an outfit from a screenshot?

  1. Open the catalog's image search. Use the image button beside the text search field.
  2. Choose, paste or drop a screenshot. The browser reduces the image before sending the search request.
  3. Select the area you want to find. Focus on the outfit, hairstyle or accessory instead of the whole scene. Choose the matching search area.
  4. Compare the candidates. Open a result, inspect its gallery and follow its BOOTH link. Check the creator's details and supported avatars before buying.

Can it identify the exact BOOTH item?

Sometimes the correct product may be among the candidates, but results are visual similarities rather than verified identifications. Lighting, pose, recoloring, occlusion and avatar edits can change what the search sees. Catalog and image-index coverage are incomplete, so no match does not mean the item is unavailable.

When you know the avatar name, combine visual clues with avatar compatibility filters and title or tag searches. Compare details across the gallery rather than relying on a single cover image.

Why is image search sometimes offline or busy?

Search runs on volunteered computers rather than an always-on inference service on the catalog server. Those computers can be offline or occupied, and the search queue is bounded. The catalog shows the current availability and lets you check again. Text search remains a separate way to explore the catalog.

What happens to my screenshot?

The reduced search image is temporarily relayed to a participating processing computer. The catalog service does not keep query images as stored files or upload them to BOOTH. Processing is performed by volunteer hardware, so choose an image you are comfortable sending for that purpose.
